Diversity & Inclusion: It’s Not Just About Race & Gender

Carasso_Steve_2013-01Steve Carasso is ALA’s Assistant Director of Marketing. He has been with ALA since 2004 and has managed the marketing efforts for the Annual Conference since 2007.

I recently had the opportunity to conduct an interview with 2013 Annual Conference speaker Michael Cohen, J.D., Partner in the Labor, Benefits and Immigration Practice Group at Duane Morris LLP in Philadelphia.

Cohen, who is frequently cited as a national expert on employment issues, is presenting two sessions on Monday, April 15 – the first on providing effective feedback to employees and the second on diversity and inclusion and the law. With Black History Month having just come to a close, the focus of our discussion was geared toward the topic of Diversity & Inclusion.

Listen to the podcast now.

Diversity and inclusion has always been mystery to me, but after this interview  I now have a better understanding of its importance in the workplace. If you’re not up to speed on incorporating D & I within your firm, I strongly encourage you to check out his session. And for those looking for additional resources, ALA’s website contains a good amount of information on the topic.

I hope you enjoy the podcast. I’m curious to know your thoughts about what he had to say.
