Law firm evolution. It’s all around us and a given that our future law firms will continue to change. Even though today’s law firm is similar to those in days past, they are so different. How did we get to where we are today? I look at all the changes and frankly, like many of you, I wonder how I ever survived them. Then, I quickly remember that we are change agents for our firms. Can we be better prepared for change? You bet we can!
At this year’s Annual Conference, there are ten sessions representing the Future Law Firm Series. These sessions will address the topics and issues we’ll all be dealing with in the very near future—such as associate retention, legal project management, diversity and inclusion, moving to all electronic library materials, legal industry trends and others.
After my 25 years, I can honestly say that I am continually in need of obtaining education for the knowledge I need to lead my firm. Without a doubt, at each ALA Annual Conference, including National Harbor, I will gain more knowledge from every single one of these Future Law Firm sessions! What about you? I know that with 11 hours and 45 minutes of sessions, I will save that time tenfold over the next years as I face these evolving issues.
We all know that things don’t happen at our convenience, so who has time to wait until one of these needs is upon us, or even becomes the focus of our managing partner. There is a perfect opportunity for you in National Harbor to start learning how to put your first foot forward. Plan now to work these sessions into your Conference week schedule. You won’t be sorry that you did!
Lorri, I think I am most excited about the Future Law Firm sessions. Great job to you and your entire team!
Hi Lorri, I am also looking forward to the exciting Educational sessions in National Harbor

I just joined a new firm last summer and I’m looking forward to bringing back some great information and ideas from this conference.
